Maryland uses RFID tracking technology to protect bath towel assets

Maryland Farm YMCA uses RFID tracking technology to protect its bath towel assets.

The family health center welcomes more than 2,500 customers every day. YMCA's Finance Committee found that nearly 5,000 bath towels were taken out of the center every month, an average of 100 towels per day. Its member director Brett Peterson said: "The loss of bath towels is too fast and we have no time to replenish."

Although these bath towels were taken away by guests unintentionally, the damage caused by replenishing bath towels is still expected to be $ 30,000.

To solve this problem, they decided to use RFID technology.

Thousands of bath towels are now equipped with RFID tags to prevent loss. When the guest approaches the exit with the bath towel, the reminder will send out a kind reminder, so that the bath towel can be recycled before the guest leaves.

YMCA Finance Committee volunteer Greg Lemon said: "Maybe five years ago, the cost of RFID technology was higher, but now, as it is gradually popularized, the cost of tags and readers has also dropped significantly."
