China will build and operate manned space station around 2020

The reporter learned from the Fourth China Space Technology Forum hosted by the China Academy of Space Technology in Beijing on November 29 that China will build and operate manned space stations around 2020 as an important base for space science and new technology research experiments.

It is understood that manned space station projects include astronaut systems, space laboratory systems, space station systems, launch vehicle systems, manned spacecraft systems, cargo spacecraft systems, launch site systems, measurement and control communication systems, recovery landing site systems, and space application systems.

According to the plan, China will develop and launch a space laboratory by 2016 to break through and master the key technology of space stations such as the astronauts ’mid-term residency, and develop a certain scale of space applications; around 2020, develop and launch a core module and an experimental module, Loading manned space stations in orbital groups, breaking through and mastering the construction and operation technology of low-Earth space station assemblies, long-term manned flight technology in low-Earth space, and launching large-scale space applications.

At the forum, Zhou Jianping, the chief engineer of China's manned aerospace engineering, introduced the overall concept of the space station construction: the orbit has been in operation for more than 10 years, the basic configuration is T-shaped, composed of three 22-ton cabins, the core cabin is centered, and the experiment cabin â…  It is connected to the experiment cabin â…¡ on both sides. The core cabin is equipped with two pairs of interfaces at the front end to accept the docking and docking of the manned spacecraft; the rear end is equipped with a backward interface to serve as the supply port for the cargo spacecraft. An airlock module is installed on the station for the astronauts to get out of the module, and two large and small mechanical arms are equipped to assist docking, replenishment, out of the module and scientific experiments. During the operation phase of the space station, a second core module will also be launched for forward docking. Eventually, the entire station will form a cross configuration and be equipped with further cabin expansion capabilities.

The space station adopts a regenerative life insurance system and is designed to carry three people for a long time. The manned spacecraft implements personnel rotation every six months, the cargo spacecraft supplies propellant and materials, and performs upward transportation of repair and maintenance equipment. During the construction and operation of the space station, it can be supported by ground measurement and control stations, measurement and control ships, relay satellites and Beidou navigation satellites. The ground landing site ensures the astronauts ’normal or emergency return. The manned spacecraft docked on the station under emergency conditions can undertake lifeboats. task.

It is understood that the core module, experimental module â… , and experimental module â…¡ will be launched into orbit at the Hainan launch site by the newly developed large-scale low-temperature carrier rocket Changzheng No. 5B. This rocket will increase China's low-Earth orbit rocket carrying capacity from 9.5 tons to 25 Ton.

The reporter was informed that as the overall research and development unit of the four core systems of the space laboratory system, the space station system, the manned spacecraft system, and the cargo spacecraft system, the China Academy of Space Technology is accelerating the key technical research of the manned space station and in-depth demonstration of the manned space station. The overall construction plan initiated the development of the China Space Station system. The development of cargo spacecraft adheres to the independent, fully functional, distinctive and sustainable technical route. While pursuing the maximization of cargo capacity, it optimizes system design and allocates platform resources to meet the development needs of manned space missions.
