Zero pollution nano-printing technology

Academician Bai Chunli, executive vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, revealed in an interview yesterday in Han that the green printing technology invented by the Chinese Academy of Sciences will be expected to replace the laser photocopying technology and achieve the third printing revolution since the invention of movable type printing technology.

The new technology, named "Nano-material green printing platemaking technology," was invented by scientists at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Earlier this year, this technology has begun a pilot test.

Bai Chunli pointed out that the Chinese character laser photocopying technology invented by Wang Xuan’s academicians allowed the Chinese printing industry to “say goodbye to lead and fire and ushered in light and power”. However, due to the need for two photosensitivity, development, fixing, and rinsing, the printing process is complicated. In addition, chemical cleaning can also cause serious environmental pollution problems.

Bai Chunli played a vivid metaphor: Chinese laser photocopying technology is equivalent to a film camera, requiring two-step operation (loading film, washing photos); nanomaterial plate making technology is equivalent to a digital camera, and operation is more convenient. This technology abandons the technical idea of ​​photographic imaging, and can print graphic directly on the printing plate, reducing the number of image transfer, no need for imposition, revision, the quality of printed graphics is obviously improved, and there is no waste liquid discharge.

Bai Chunli emphasized that what is more important is that China's self-developed nano-materials plate making technology enables domestic printing companies to complete printing technology upgrades at a lower cost. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is preparing to set up a R&D and production center for nano-materials green printing plate making technology in the South and North. The North Center may be located in Beijing. There is no candidate city in the South Center. Wuhan has a chance to win.
