Pallet Furniture
Creative Reuse: The Art of Upcycling Pallets
At Kite Packaging, we’re fortunate to have a team full of incredibly talented individuals. From the delicious cakes our employees bring in to the cleverly crafted Halloween costumes, and even the whimsical playhouses created by their children, creativity runs deep within our ranks. This week, though, Chris from our IT department shared something truly special—his wife’s incredible talent for turning discarded wooden pallets into stunning pieces of furniture!

This outdoor bench was made by sanding down old pallets, applying a durable outdoor paint, and finishing it off with a protective varnish. Adding some old cushions or blankets transforms it into a delightful outdoor corner sofa. The spacious design makes it ideal for kids to relax or extra seating during backyard BBQs.
Pallet furniture has become a global trend, inspired by platforms like Pinterest and the DIY movement. With a bit of creativity and effort, you can turn pallets into impressive creations. Let me walk you through a few ideas.
Garden Planters
If you're short on gardening space, pallet planters offer a fantastic solution. By standing two intact pallets upright and inserting slats from broken ones, you can create a vertical garden with ample room for flowers, herbs, or even vegetables. Not only does this maximize space, but it also adds a modern aesthetic to your outdoor area.

These planters aren’t just for outdoors—they work beautifully indoors too. Fill them with candles or books for a stylish display that sparks conversation.
Pallet Beds
For those looking to furnish a spare room without breaking the bank, pallets provide an affordable option. A simple base made from pallets offers stability, while adding fairy lights underneath creates a magical ambiance. You could also paint the pallets white and thread fake flowers or fairy lights through the gaps for a charming, shabby-chic headboard.

Pallet Staircases
While building a staircase might sound daunting, it’s a project worth considering if you have extra space in your garage or attic. This particular staircase features a natural wood finish, giving it an authentic charm. However, you could easily customize it by painting each step a different color for a playful touch or opting for metallic hues to elevate its elegance.

Whether you're a seasoned DIY enthusiast or just starting out, pallet furniture provides endless possibilities. So why not give it a try? Have you ever attempted a pallet project? Share your experiences and photos with us on social media—we’d love to see what you’ve created! Who knows, you might win a prize.
