An automatic weather station is a sophisticated meteorological system designed to measure a wide range of environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, wind direction, total solar radiation, rainfall, evaporation, soil temperature, and soil moisture. These systems are widely used in various fields such as meteorology, oceanography, environmental monitoring, airports, ports, industry, agriculture, forestry, and transportation. The modular design ensures stable performance, easy installation, and plug-and-play functionality, making it ideal for both professional and non-meteorological users. Before selecting and purchasing an automatic weather station, non-meteorological departments should carefully review the specifications to ensure the system meets their unique requirements.
The basic configuration of an automatic weather station typically includes a data acquisition unit, computer software, and a variety of sensors. The collected data can be stored and displayed on the weather collector or further analyzed, visualized, and printed through the connected computer system.
Our company's automatic weather stations are designed with modularity in mind, allowing users to select and combine different types of sensors according to their needs. At a minimum, one sensor can be installed, while up to 13 sensors can be integrated (including multiple sensors of the same type). This flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Some of the most common configurations include:
- One-element station: Rainfall measurement (automatic rain gauge)
- Two-element station: Wind speed and wind direction (wind recorder)
- Two-element station: Soil temperature and soil moisture (soil sensor station)
- Four-element station: Temperature, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction
- Five-element station: Temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, and wind direction (ideal for campus weather monitoring)
- Seven-element station: Temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, and evaporation
- Seven-element station: Temperature, humidity, total solar radiation, rainfall, evaporation, soil temperature, and soil moisture (perfect for agricultural use)
- Ten-element station: Temperature, humidity, air pressure, total radiation, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, evaporation, soil temperature, and soil moisture
For optimal performance, temperature, humidity, and air pressure sensors should be placed in a lightweight, ventilated enclosure. Wind speed and direction sensors can be mounted on a portable bracket (2 meters tall) for flexible placement. The data collector is usually installed indoors. If the distance between the sensors and the indoor location exceeds 10 meters, a stainless steel protection box should be used to house the collector.
Regarding data communication, the system supports several connection methods depending on the distance between the data collector and the computer:
- For distances under 20 meters, a direct RS232 cable can be used.
- For distances between 20 and 1000 meters, RS485 converters can be employed for reliable communication.
- For distances up to 3,000 meters with clear line-of-sight, wireless radio communication is an option.
- For long-distance communication, GPRS technology can be used. This requires a mobile network signal and may incur data charges from the service provider.
Whether you're setting up a small-scale weather monitoring system or a comprehensive environmental observation station, our automatic weather stations offer the flexibility, reliability, and scalability needed to meet your specific needs.
