Asymmetric Tensile Test of Adhesive Tape Tensile Test Standard

Haida Instruments continues to introduce other tests for adhesive tape tensile test standards. Asymmetric tensile test ( cracking test )

Asymmetric tensile tests, also known as splitting tests, measure the strength of the splitting strength. The asymmetric tensile test method is specified in GB7749-87 and abroad in ASTM D1062 and JIS K6853 .

1. Principle

The sample is a docking structure. A tensile force perpendicular to the cemented surface is applied to the edge of the cemented surface of the sample, the maximum load the sample is subjected to when it is separated is measured, and its splitting strength is expressed as the separation force required per unit of bonding width.

2. Instrument and equipment

The testing machine requires the same tensile strength test requirements. Puller chuck movement speed is (5±1)mm/min .

3. Test procedure

Specimen preparation is regulated by the technical conditions of the adhesive. The cemented surface of the metal block should be flat and should not be bent or skewed. The glued surface should be free of burrs and the edges should be at right angles. Material is LY12CZ aluminum alloy or 45 steel. The fixture holding the specimen shall be equipped with an automatic adjustment device so that when the load is applied, the force acting line and the specimen bond surface are perpendicular to the specimen. The shortest test time is 16 hours and the longest is 1 month. The test shall be conducted at a standard temperature of (23 ± 2) °C . If the test requires strict temperature or humidity or an arbitration test, it shall be tested at a temperature of (23 ± 2) °C and a relative humidity of 45% to 55% , if only For the temperature, the sample is parked for 0.5 h at standard temperature. If a standard test environment is required, the sample should be parked for not less than 16 h at a temperature of (23 ± 2) °C and a relative humidity of 45% to 55% . The tension machine was started and loaded at a loading rate of (5±1) mm/min . The maximum load of the splitting failure of the sample and the type and percentage of damage of the rubber were recorded.

4. Results assessment

At least 5 samples of each adhesive were tested. The minimum, maximum, and average values were used as test results. The values were taken as 3 significant figures.

5. Influencing factors

The metal used for the processing of the test blocks may be semi-hard tempered brass, hard tempered red copper phosphor bronze, tempered aluminum alloy and cold rolled steel. For asymmetric tensile strength, due to the lap length of the specimen, it has a very significant effect on it. The shorter the sample length L , the smaller the asymmetric tensile strength. Like the temperature, the thickness of the adhesive layer, and the properties of the adhesive are the same as the strength of the glass.
