DuPont Introduces Two New Packaging Barrier Technologies

Recently, DuPont and Reifenhauser Kiefel Extrusion, based in Worms, Germany, jointly developed two innovative packaging barrier technologies that will be introduced at the upcoming 28th China International Plastics and Rubber Fair:

A new type of APET (Amorphous Polyester)-based DuPontTM Appeel@ high-performance heat-sealable resin can be used for the PA cover film production process, which will greatly enhance the barrier function, and has a good printability, and will The 100% APET tray fits seamlessly, eliminating the need for APET/LDPE tray delamination, which can reduce material costs and cover plate production costs.

The emergence of special grade DuPontTM Surlyn@ packaging polymers makes it possible to produce 20% thinner thermoformable barrier films than conventional 7-layer PA/PE, which can reduce production costs, improve transparency and impact resistance, and at the same time ensure good resistance. Grinding and improve sealing performance.

In addition, DuPont and the German company Kuhne Anlagenbau of Sankt Augustin have expanded the use of TripleBubble® in biaxially oriented film production. The thickness of 11 layers of functional plastics produced by DuPont ionomer and DuPont adhesive resin is only 20-110μm. The extensibility of each layer can reach 60%, and it has high barrier property, high transparency, high gloss and tear resistance. Strong, strong impact resistance and other advantages. This will significantly save up to 50% of raw materials and resources, which will greatly improve its life cycle.
