Cool DIY: Super Fine 3D Print Battle Robot

American sci-fi blockbusters have always captured the hearts of fans around the world, and every new release tends to spark excitement among moviegoers. The "Avengers" series, in particular, has left a huge impact on pop culture, turning superheroes into household names. While many have seen 3D printed models of Iron Man or even nuclear reactors from the movies, one unique project took things a step further. Joe Grundfast, a 3D designer, and Mattia Mercante, a passionate 3D printing enthusiast, decided to bring a different Marvel character to life—War Machine. Though not as iconic as Iron Man, War Machine has its own charm and has made a name for itself in the Marvel universe. This time, instead of focusing on the more popular characters, they chose to recreate the War Machine suit, showcasing their creativity and technical skills. The result is nothing short of impressive. Mattia Mercante used his Form 1+ 3D printer, known for its precision and high-quality prints, to create a detailed model of the War Machine. He started with black resin, which allowed for ultra-clear details, and then carefully painted it using water-based paints and a dry brush technique. The final model stands at an impressive 45 cm tall and consists of 46 individual parts that were meticulously assembled. Additionally, he printed over 30 small bullets and attached them to the model, adding a nice touch of realism. The base of the model was created using an FDM (fused deposition modeling) 3D printer, while the main structure was printed with the Form 1+. The head of the War Machine was printed with a layer thickness of 0.5 mm, while the rest of the model used a finer 0.1 mm layer, ensuring maximum detail. The entire project took around 98 hours to print, plus an additional 67.5 hours for the rock base, making it a true labor of love. From the intricate design to the attention to detail, this War Machine model is a testament to the power of 3D printing and the passion of its creators. Whether you're a Marvel fan or just a tech enthusiast, this project is sure to inspire and impress.
