How to separate newspaper "fake" serials

What is a "fake" serial version of a newspaper? To answer this question, we must first explain the serial version of the newspaper. With the increase of newspaper layouts, in order to make the layout rich, intuitive and easy to read, two adjacent layouts are often connected together to form a general layout. This general edition is called a serial edition.

So what is the "fake" serial edition of a newspaper? Knowing the newspaper's serial edition, you can further understand the "fake" serial edition. Because the two layouts of some serials are not on the same paper of the newspaper, the two layouts are not on the same printing plate during printing. Such serials are called "fake" serials. Such as: eight-page newspapers 2, 3 or 6, 7 consecutive editions; 12-page newspapers 2, 3 and 4, 5 or 8, 9 and 10, 11 consecutive editions ... all belong to "false" Continuous edition.

With the continuous development of laser phototypesetting technology, most newspaper printing companies use folios, and some adopt CTP direct plate-making technology. Manual collage has been eliminated. Instead, use computer imposition, output folio or directly output printing plate. In the "fake" series, in the editing and typesetting process, in order to make the layout effect clear and convenient, the two layouts are connected together for typesetting. These two layouts are not on the same printing plate. Separate them and put them into their respective positions. How to separate consecutive editions has become a key issue. If you can cut the continuous edition from the middle and divide it into two sections, it will be easier to handle.

Using Fei Teng typesetting software to typeset, the picture entered is not physical, it is just an empty frame. The actual content is to call the content of the picture file in the computer through the path scan. If you encounter a "fake" serial version, you need to cut it. If there is a picture or text block at the cutting position, it is not possible to directly cut the Feiteng file. of. In the past, when we encountered this situation, we produced these two continuous editions on a laser lithography machine, and the plate-making staff cut the continuous editions and put them on their respective layouts, so that at least two collages were involved. If the printing plate is a color layout, eight printing plates are involved. That is to say, the film of the eight printing plates must be hand-collapsed, which is easy to make mistakes. It also takes time and labor and affects the printing quality.

In response to this situation, we conducted research on the Feiteng typesetting software. Inspired by the arrangement of the pictures that can be arbitrarily cropped, we found that the PS results can also be cropped just like the photos. After testing, it was confirmed. The final result: you can use the PS results to cut the "false" serials. The method is: first issue the arranged serial version to generate a serial version of the PS file. Then build a single layout page, arrange the PS results of successive editions, cut off the left (or right) and keep the right (or left), and send the layout again to generate a new PS file, which results in a single layout file. Same as other layouts. Repeat the operation once to get the layout on the other side, so that the continuous edition is cut into two single editions, and arrange them into their corresponding positions. The “fake” serialization is completed. With this method of cutting, it does not matter whether there are pictures or text blocks at the cutting position, eliminating the trouble of manual collage, saving time and improving quality.

It is worth noting that the cutting must be centered, it is best to draw a centering auxiliary line, so as to ensure that the cutting is centered. After the "false" serials are arranged, a thin white line should be pressed on the cutting position to see the effect after cutting.
