1. Introduction to Moodle

Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Development Learning Environment) is a set of online course teaching system developed by Dr. Martin Dougiamas of Australia. It is a set of "object-oriented modular development dynamic learning environment" based on constructivist theory, with a variety of learning modules, including teacher and student directory module, course selection module, management module, resource addition module and activity addition module, etc. In addition, it also provides social networking software such as the popular Blog, Wiki and RSS, which is a very good software for remote learning.

Second, the possibility of Moodle applied to interactive multimedia learning environment

1. Primary school students possess certain information technology capabilities

The Ministry of Education attaches great importance to the construction of information technology in primary and secondary schools, and provided strong support in the early 21st century. Information technology courses are offered in the third grade of elementary school. Therefore, elementary and middle school students have the skills to use the Moodle platform for learning.

2. Mood1e is a software designed and developed based on "social constructivist theory"

Long-distance continuing education is based on students 'independent learning, and teaching should focus on the construction of students' independent meaning. Mood1e is a set of open source software designed and developed based on "social constructivist theory", which can help teachers create and manage online courses with high quality, and Moodle is not only an advanced "Course Management System" (CMS), but also A "learning management system" that combines educational theory and practice to support teachers and students to organize and implement teaching activities.

3. Moodle provides multiple types of multimedia learning environment formats

Moodle provides 6 learning environment design formats including LAMS course format, SCORM format, community format, theme format, week format, week format-CSS / no form. Teachers can choose the appropriate learning environment format according to the learning content and teaching method.

4. Moodle has the function of adding multiple resources

In the editing module of the learning environment, you can add a variety of resources, such as "link to file or site", so that the learning environment can easily link to any file or link to any website on the machine, and can be studied in the current Open in a window; you can also design a web page or a text learning content in the editing module.

5. Various activities can be easily added in the learning environment

In the learning environment editing module, various activities such as SCORM, WiKi, interactive evaluation, chat room, discussion area, and program teaching can be added by adding activity options to provide reliable and convenient conditions for classroom interaction.

6. Moodle provides a powerful management module

In this module, the administrator can freely assign roles and groups to students, and can view the learner's learning records through reports, and can grade according to the learner's records. In addition, teachers can import and backup their course content at any time.

7. In the local area network, you can access the teacher's learning environment through IP

The learner enters the IP address of the teacher's machine in the address bar of the terminal, and can easily enter the learning environment designed by the teacher for learning.

3. Design of learning environment based on Moodle

Design of classroom interactive multimedia learning environment based on Moodle: The following takes the sixth grade (on) English course: Unit5 "On The Farm" (People's Education Press, 2008) as an example, specifically analyzes how to conduct classroom interactive based on Moodle Multimedia learning environment design.

1. Set the project name

After installing Moodle8, set the website name to "Sixth grade (on) English course" to give a brief description of the content of this course. The course format is selected as "Theme" and the title of this lesson is set to "Unit5: 'On The Farm'".

2. Add Group

Enter the URL in the address bar: http: // localhost /, and enter the website as an administrator. Set up an account for students in this class through "Website Management-User-Account-Add New User". Usually, the student's student ID is used as the account and password to set up, which is convenient for students to remember. Select "Unit 5: 'On The Farm'" in the "Existing Courses" column of the current page to enter the learning content setting window, and delegate students to the role of "student" through "Management-Assign Role"; through "Management-Group" Divide students into two groups for later discussion and debate.

3. Add learning resources

(1) Through "Management-Open Editing Function", select "chat room" in the Add Activity drop-down menu to add a pre-lesson discussion topic "What do you know about Farm?". On the one hand, this link provides students with a warming-up activity, allowing students to organize the language platform in the target language, on the other hand, it plays an introductory role for the learning of this content.

(2) Add a section of English pronunciation related to "On The Farm", "Chinese and English subtitles" video material through "Add Resource-Link to File or Site", so that students have a visual and auditory understanding of "On The Farm" Roughly understand.

(3) Through "Add Activity-Chat Room", add a theme "Do you think What there are in the farm?". This part can develop students' organizational language skills and prepare for the course content learning.

(4) Display the new words that need to be learned in this section through "Add Resource-Edit Text Page"; at the same time give 3 questions that need to be answered in this section: â‘ Where did Nacy / Helen go last week? â‘¡What did Nacy do last week? â‘¢ What did Helen do last week?

(5) Through "Add Resource-Link to File or Site", add the audio resource "On The Farm" of the text content, requiring that students can freely control its playback. When listening to audio, students can read the new words and questions in (4) to help students understand the text.

(6) Through "Add Resource-Edit Text Page", add the blank questions related to the text, ask the students to fill in the corresponding content in the blank space while listening, and then answer the 3 questions raised in (4). Homework form turned in. (Students can edit answers on their own computers and submit them through "Add Activity-Assignment") to promote students' attention.

(7) Add a job through "Add Activity-Job": "Try to write about your 'last week'". Students are required to describe in detail and pay attention to the tense in order to deepen their understanding and mastery of the text.

4. Settings for access in LAN

Find the config.php file in the Moodle folder and open it, find this sentence: $ CFG-> = http: // localhost; Change the localhost inside to your (teacher) computer IP address, so that other students only need Enter your IP address in the address bar of its browser to open your website!

4. Problems that should be paid attention to when using Moodle to design learning environment

With its unique convenience and powerful functions, Moodle can greatly change the way of English learning in the classroom, increase the opportunities for students to experience, practice, participate, cooperate and exchange languages, and stimulate students' interest in learning. However, if teachers design and use improperly, it will lead to uncontrollable classrooms and incomplete teaching content. Therefore, when using Moodle to design a learning environment, you should pay attention to the following four issues:

(1) The audio and video provided by teachers in the learning environment should benefit from being displayed and opened "in another window". In the learning process, students should not only listen to or watch videos, but also fill in the blanks or answer questions. If the questions, audio and video are opened in a window, it is not convenient for students to control.

(2) Reasonable guidance and control are necessary. In the discussion area, sometimes "cold field" or discussion is too "hot" and other issues, teachers should promptly intervene, timely guidance and control for different situations, in order to achieve a better effect of the discussion.

(3) Timely feedback is important. Summarize in time in the discussion area according to the student ’s discussion. For example, put forward the sentence that the student answered better and the sentence that is wrong and representative, and put it on the bulletin board to stimulate the enthusiasm of the student and attract everyone ’s attention.

(4) It is necessary for teachers to view student records through "Management-Report". Learning through the local area network will inevitably lead some inattentive students to carry out other activities. Teachers can correct them in a timely manner by viewing the students ’learning records.
