Davis-Standard Launches Large Film Winder

Using the new PAC 60 surface winder from Davis-Standard, the film processor can wind a 1500 mm diameter roll on a 150 mm core at speeds up to 180 m/min. The winder is particularly suitable for use in large roll mills where the film is made into a laminate or off-line into bags or sacks. Recently, the company provided nine sets of such winders to a large tank lining production plant.

The unique feature of the PAC 60 winder is the implementation of lay-up pressure control to prevent the core from being blocked, thereby overcoming the problems caused by poor stacking pressure control in most large surface winders. Specifically, it is through the hydraulic control circuit and roller mounted pressure sensor, and with the actual pressure feedback circuit to maintain a uniform stacking pressure. Other advantages include the acceleration of the new core by means of the spindle accelerator and the transfer to the new core by an automatic cross cutter. The spindle is positively clamped by the pneumatic locking hook during the transfer process in order to ensure that the positive roller starts and is reliably transported.

The AC drive and control unit of the PAC 60 winder is mounted on the take-up mechanism rack. At the same time, the winding machine is pre-wired and strictly tested before leaving the factory. It has a 1000-1800 mm model.
