German beverage bottles can be refunded next year

The German Supreme Court ruled that in the future, when consumers go to the store to empty their beverage bottles and empty cans, they must pay consumers a certain amount of money. In this way, the controversy over whether the law was viable for a long period of time has finally come to an end, and the last obstacle before the law is implemented has been eliminated. This law will be implemented on January 1, 2003. Consumers can get 0.25 Euro for each beverage bottle and can, and 0.50 Euro for larger bottles, but wine bottles and liquor bottles cannot be refunded. At the Supreme Court’s previous hearing, representatives of 10 large chain stores complained that the law will increase their extra expenses. However, the author of the law, Jürgen Trittin, the German environmental minister, said that the implementation of this law will help change the bad habits of consumers to abandon drink bottles, which is beneficial to the German circular economy.
