The reason that affects the printing speed

The laser printer's print speed is measured in ppm (pages per minute). Since the printer has a mechanical movement part, its printing speed is largely determined by the design of the machine itself, but the printing speed is also related to the resolution set when printing, black-and-white printing, color printing, output text, or output images. There is a direct relationship.

There is no doubt that no matter what kind of printer you are using, it is necessary to cooperate with a well-optimized host computer with hardware and software to increase the printing speed. The hardware should be equipped with the largest possible memory and the fastest possible hard disk. In the BIOS, the parallel port is set to ECC+EPP mode. And should often defragment the disk, upgrade the latest print program and select the appropriate printing software. In addition, different optimization methods should be used for different types of printers.

Laser printer speed optimization

Since ink jet printers will consume a large amount of consumables in the printing job (the price of the ink cartridges may not be low), more and more enterprises and institutions have begun to use laser printers in terms of cost performance. The speed of laser printer output depends mainly on two aspects:

1, built-in processor operating frequency and computing power. It is an important condition for the high speed of the printer. Commonly, RISC processors are used. The operating frequency is at least 50 MHz, and high-speed products can reach 100 MHz.

2, the memory configuration size, the maximum extent of support to expand. In general, the greater the memory capacity, the faster the print speed.

At present, the speed of personal and small office laser printers is generally 6 to 12 ppm; the speed of the working group network laser printer is generally 10 to 20 ppm; and the departmental network laser printer requires 20 to 40 ppm. In addition, it should be noted that under normal circumstances, we are referring to the print speed refers to the laser printer engine speed, and in use, the actual output speed is subject to preheating technology, printer control language efficiency, interface transfer speed and memory Size and other factors. Some models of foreign brands do not have a built-in Chinese character library, which is very fast when printing English documents. However, the efficiency of processing Chinese characters is low. Here, state-owned brands (such as the Founder laser printer) have a greater advantage.

What we can do to optimize the printing speed of laser printers is to minimize the print resolution. The print resolution is expressed in dots per square inch (dpi). Higher resolutions (eg, 600 dpi) can sharpen the graphic image and show finer details, while lower resolutions (eg, 300 dpi). Can print faster, but print quality is worse.

Also, specify the TrueType font option. Click Replace with Device Fonts (the default setting) to print documents containing TrueType fonts using the equivalent PostScript fonts. This allows faster printing, but some special characters that are not supported by PostScript fonts may be missing. Click "Download as Soft Font" to download TrueType fonts for printing instead of using PostScript fonts.

For network and workgroup environments, try to choose a dedicated network laser printer. If only from the printing principle of operation, network laser printers and ordinary laser printers do not seem very different, but when working in a network environment, network laser printers provide a series of intelligent management and intelligent fault diagnosis, while ordinary laser printers only The implementation is shared and used in the network, so network laser printers are safer and more efficient than ordinary laser printers.
